SMK 9 Jakarta termasuk dalam kelompok Bisnis dan Manajemen, jurusan yang dibuka pada awalnya adalah Akuntansi, Sekretaris dan Penjualan. Sekarang, di tahun 2015, sebutan untuk jurusan menjadi Kompetensi Keahlian menjadi: Akuntansi, Administrasi Perkantoran dan Pemasaran.
Pada Tanggal 7 Maret 1997 SMEA 5 Jakarta berubah nama menjadi Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Negeri 9 Jakarta. Berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Nomor : 0036/O/1997.
